Dr. Lubna Tirmizi is a well respected Durham Region Primary Care Physician. She grew up in a large and active family in Edmonton and completed her first degree in Psychology at the University of Alberta. Her love for medicine was born while volunteering in Islamabad, Pakistan; studying the mental health needs of children with disabilities. She completed her medical degree at the University of Western Ontario and finished her residency at St. Michael’s Family Practice Unit in 2004.
Since then, Dr. Tirmizi has worked in Pickering running two busy offices: family practice as well as urgent care. She has also worked in long-term care where her passion for serving seniors resulted in the opening of a seniors’ clinic as part of a not-for-profit long term care residence in Scarborough.
Dr. Tirmizi is actively involved in multiple health collaboratives in Durham Region. She is a member of the Durham Region COVID Steering Committee and the Regional Virtual Care Strategy. She is also a Primary Care Physician Lead for the CE-LHIN (Ontario Health East) and a member of the Durham Region Ontario Health Team.
The Seniors Urgency Room is proud to have Dr. Tirmizi lead its team of Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Primary and Urgent Care physicians, support staff and to work with leading health care agency partners; to create a seniors focused community health care hub.
